In some ways it has been a slightly depressing Autumn, having, for various reasons, missed out on a few gigs I was looking forward to, but this disappointment has been tempered somewhat by FINALLY releasing the album I originally wrote for the 'Swimming a Long Way' project roughly two years ago. Instigated by the artist Vanessa Daws, Swimming a Long Way was a long project commemorating and raising awareness of the long distance swimmer Mercedes Gleitze, and it concluded with a 47 hour relay swim at Sealanes pool in Brighton. Throughout the swim performers were commissioned to entertain from the sidelines and I was fortunate enough to be offered a double shift between midnight and 2am. This album is a condensed version of that performance omitting any previously released material and my dodgy cover version of 'Under the Sea'. It's loosely inspired by Camille Saint Seans' 'Carnival of the Animals', a suite he was too embarrassed to release during his lifetime but with enduring appeal to audiences.  My version takes in sea creatures from both reality and myth, and contains a whiff of the underwater ambience we enjoy creating in my noise band Sunfish Starfish. Wormhole World were kind enough to release it on CD and digital download and you can find it here:
